The Longhorn is an unlockable vehicle in The Simpsons: Hit & Run. It is Apu's default car in Level 5. This vehicle may be accessed via the phone booth at any time, on any level.

Description[]

The Longhorn is a vintage American sports car painted golden-brown. A Texan longhorn skull is painted on the hood, and a bar secures the windshield to the back end of the vehicle. It makes a loud gnawing sound when driven, similar to the Obliteratatron Big Wheel Truck. In Level 7, Apu occupies the driver's seat of the vehicle. The car bears a strong resemblance to the real life 1979 2nd generation Pontiac Firebird.

Tips[]

The Longhorn possesses good speed, acceleration, and handling for a starter vehicle, so some players may choose to stick with it as their vehicle of choice for completing Level 5's missions, as it can travel fast, reach top speed in just a few seconds, and turn rather sharply. Its toughness is also surprisingly high for a fast vehicle, allowing it to take some damage before its engine starts to smoke.

Mission Appearances[]

Level 2[]

  • Better Than Beef - After Bart and Cletus stop at the Krusty Burger to deliver the flatmeat, Apu attempts to stop them in his Longhorn.

Level 3[]

Level 5[]

  • The Longhorn appears as Apu's main vehicle in the level.

Trivia[]

  • In the show, Apu's car was significantly different than the car seen in the game. It was painted red rather than golden-brown, donned the classic phoenix on the hood of the car, and retained the Firebird name. The name and design was changed from this in the game due to legal reasons.
  • Apu drives this vehicle only in Level 7, along with Bart and the Honor Roller/Ferrini - Red.
    • Apu makes an appearance in every level in the game, including Level 7, which is contradictory to how the developers of the game chose when to show characters driving specific cars.
    • Despite already appearing at the Kwik-E-Mart in Level 7, when the Longhorn is selected from the phone booth, Apu occupies the driver's seat, unlike the other drivers who can not drive their cars if they play a role in the level's plot, appear as a background character, or take part in street races. He shares this distinction with Snake driving the Lil' Bandit in Level 3.
  • In Level 4 street races, Apu, along with his Longhorn, appear as components in the circuit race. However, in the checkpoint race, the player races Professor Frink in his Hover Car instead.
