The Hover Car is an unlockable vehicle in The Simpsons: Hit & Run. Like all other player owned cars this vehicle may be accessed via phone booths at any time, on any level.

Description

The Hover Car is a bluish-silver car with an engine in the back with an electric current flowing openly between the antennae. It hovers using some sort of propulsion technology, and becomes more translucent the faster the vehicle goes. Its horn and drifting sounds are indescribable, and can really only be described by listening to it. The vehicle was built by Professor Frink, and in Level 1 and Level 5, he occupies the driver's seat. The car bears a strong resemblance to the real life 1959 Cadillac Cyclone.

Trivia

  • In Level 4 street races, Apu should be the next character the player takes on, but because Apu plays a part in Level 4's plot, he is replaced with Frink. This is already out of place, since every street race features the next character the player assumes control of (with the exception of Level 7), but this is even more unorthodox as Frink races the player only in the checkpoint race, and not the circuit race.
  • After Kinky Frinky's events take place, the player can instantly access the Hover Car anytime they like. This isn't very logical, as the player had destroyed the car mere moments before returning to Frink. Either way, the car is destroyed again after the events of Pocket Protector.
  • On the GameCube version, the Hover Car's transparency effect doesn't appear to work properly. The windows on the car are not transparent, which leads to an issue where the characters cannot be seen once the car reaches full speed. The refraction effect also appears to be broken as well. This was later fixed.
